Alpha Mu Gamma

CNU is proud to host the Lambda Pi chapter of the largest national collegiate foreign language honorary society, Alpha Mu Gamma. The society was founded in 1931 in order to recognize the achievements of students in all foreign languages at an early stage of their career. Students who join Alpha Mu Gamma are eligible to apply for one of three scholarships of $750 (for all languages); one award of $400 (for the study of French at the University of Laval in Quebec, Canada); or one $400 grant (for the study of Esperanto or Spanish). Students interested in joining Alpha Mu Gamma or in applying for a scholarship should contact Dr. Laura Deiulio at (757) 594-7062 or ldeiulio@cnu.edu. General information on Alpha Mu Gamma may be found at http://www.lacitycollege.edu/academic/honor/amg/homepage.htm.

On May 4, 2006 Nu Upsilon, the CNU chapter of the French National Honor Society Pi Delta Phi, was installed. On that day, eleven French students were inducted and became members of Pi Delta Phi. Founded at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1906, the Society is devoted to recognizing outstanding scholarship in the French language and literature, increasing the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and sponsoring and encouraging French and Francophone cultural activities. Further information on Pi Delta Phi can be found at http://www.pideltaphi.org

If you are interested in becoming a member of Nu Upsilon, contact Dr. Georgeta Georgescu at (757) 594-7058 or ggeorge@cnu.edu
